CLOTILDE--MARCELLE--SIDOINE

_Marcelle_--I love you! I love you!

_Clotilde_--Dearest! Ah!--Ah!--Ah!--Marcel, my Marcel! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!...

_Marcelle_--I love you, I ... love ... ah-ah-ah-ah!

_Sidoine_--Can it be possible?

_Clotilde_--Marcelle, take care to hide your face especially! Ah! Sidoine! What happiness! I didn’t hear you come in. I was dozing, I was dreaming, perhaps. I sometimes dream out loud when I fall asleep after dinner.

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--No, here. The divan is too much upset.

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--What ails you?

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--What are you looking for?

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--You? Sidoine, I beg you!

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--Suspicions, then!

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--Like the others!

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--Then you believe?

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--What does this prove?

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--Ah! You no longer love me!

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--Very well, I know what I’ll do.

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--No, you still love me. Speak. You don’t believe that? Sidoine?

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--Say something, at least, won’t you? Do you detest me?

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--You despise me?

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--Suspicions are infamous.

_Sidoine_-- ...

_Clotilde_--Allow me to introduce to you my accomplice.

_Sidoine_--What! Marcelle!

_Marcelle_--The tragedy is over. It was deeply touching.

_Clotilde_--You were right, Sidoine, one must never....

_Sidoine_--Ah! How you’ve made me suffer. How wicked you are!

_Clotilde_--I wanted to put you to the test.

_Sidoine_--This time again, it was a bit too direct.

_Clotilde_--Those are the best thrusts.

_Marcelle_--Good-bye. I leave you my conquest, but I regret it.

_Sidoine_--How pretty she is, dressed like that!

_Clotilde_--You came in the nick of time.

_Sidoine_--Very well, now let her play the woman. That shall be my revenge.

_Marcelle_--No, no! Clotilde, stop him!

_Clotilde_--Sidoine! Sidoine!

_Sidoine_--I love you! I love you!

_Clotilde_--How horrible! It gives me the shudders! I’m dying! Marcelle, I entreat you!

_Marcelle_--I love you, I love you! I ... lov ... Ah!--a--a--h!

_Sidoine_--A-a-a-a-h!
